Sometimes it's appropriate to think outside the social media post box - literally. Rather than simply use the Open to Work ring, I created a video to announce my availability and skills. The response was so good, I paid to boost it to get it in front of recruiters and hiring managers. It directly led to multiple interviews.

You are probably wondering what the h-e-double hockey sticks that video is above. Well, way back in the year 2020 when my hair looked like a Chia Pet due to COVID, I applied for a job that didn't want a resume...they wanted a video so I filmed and edited this in a day. My Hot Dog cooking skills have since improved and thankfully, my hair is properly groomed.
What in the name of the Lord is this ancient YouTube video? Well, way back in the aughts of the internets and YouTube, I liked making strange videos with my comedy partner/friend. We also had a comedy podcast for a local rock radio station before they were even a thing.
The pinnacle of our creative output was this 6:23 spoof on the Dateline NBC show To Catch a Predator, hosted by Chris Hansen. The video went viral and had hundreds of thousands of views within a few weeks. It has since settled in at a solid 818,000 views. If only it were that easy to go viral today...
